Resident Reports She Is Victim Of Identity Theft
A Summertown resident filed a complaint with law enforcement officials on Monday stating that someone had used her identity to rack up thousands of dollars worth of unpaid bills with various agencies.
Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department took the complaint from a twenty-five year old resident of Gresham Road. She said that she had run a credit check on herself only to discover various delinquent accounts listed in her name.
All of the accounts, she reported, had already been relinquished to collection agencies.
The victim reported someone had used her identity to open accounts with Direct TV, World Finance and Greenbank.
She found two delinquent accounts under her name with Lawrenceburg Utility Systems and several with Crockett hospital. She told deputies she had never even been treated at the facility.
The victim told deputies she had spoken with a representative of Direct TV and was instructed to file a police report so that an investigation could be initiated.
They informed her that the delinquent account with their company had been opened in February of 2009 and listed an address of Scott Tennessee Road in Mount Pleasant.
